MARY J BLIDGE FANS LIVID OVER BURGER KING AD NOW OFF YOUTUBE DUE TO BACKLASH

Mary J. Blige Addresses Ad

Singer Mary J. Blige has released a statement regarding her controversial appearance in a Burger King ad that appeared online this week. The clip, which featured the Grammy-winner singing about crispy chicken wraps, drew ridicule from fans and bloggers when it was posted on YouTube. The negative reaction seemingly led to the video being taken down after only a couple of hours online.

Blige says the ad was unfinished and released prematurely.

“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence,” Mary J. Blige told TMZ. “Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip.”

Critics derided the commercial as being stereotypical and tacky. Burger King even issued an apology. “We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final,” the company said in a statement.

“I understand my fans being upset by what they saw,” Blige said. “But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”
